Merry Christmas - From Gary Ewer

Merry Christmas to Everyone!

It’s been a tough year for us all, there’s no doubt about that. And at holiday times we’re used to looking forward to being with friends and family, and we usually take great joy in that. This year a lot of “being with friends” is going to happen virtually. For many, it’s going to be a difficult holiday season.

But better days are coming, and so we can all take a bit of joy and relief in that. I hope that you are able to find moments of peace and cheer with your family and loved ones, even if you are required to be physically distant from some of them.

I hope your songwriting has been able to give you strength and hope this past year. For me, writing this blog has been a kind of normalcy that has kept me focused, happy and — to be honest — sane!

I wish you, your friends and family, a very merry Christmas, filled with joy and peace. Stay strong, and listen to good music!

Merry Christmas

  1. Hi Gary,
It has been a difficult year to be sure. Interests like song writing do keep us sane especially in these times. Your blog is a part of my routine several times each week and keeps me focused and I look forward to it. Thank you for your insights into this wonderful creative process that we love that you pass on to me and many others. Music gives us that unique vehicle to express things that normally we would never attemt to do otherwise so publically and in doing so expose our common vulnerability. It gives hope and courage to us and to others to realise we are not alone through whatever life may deal us good or bad. Thanks for encouaging us during these times this past year to communicate through the music we all carry within ourselves. All the best to you and yours in 2021! Looking forward to your blog in the coming year.

    • Merry Christmas to you Jim. We’ve managed to get through the toughest year in recent memory, so I’m looking forward to the hope that comes with the new year. Take care, and keep writing those good songs!

      Gary

  2. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Mr. Ewer! I am so appreciative of your The Essential Secrets of Song Writing. I took my first piano lessons in my fifth grade in 1963-64. Then, in the early 1990’s, a worship leader lady taught me a good beginning in playing the rhythm with a chord chart. But, starting about 2010, with studying your music books and chord charts, I developed greater ability to play a song with the chord chart. I also can play a worship flow by knowing my chord progression without looking at it on a paper. Thank you so much for being a great music teacher, and have a blessed year! Gloria Hallelujah

  3. Most appreciative of all you do throughout the year! Hope you and your family have a most Merry Christmas! Looking forward to all of your songwriting guidance in the New Year! Your advice and encouragment is priceless.
